W, 84-80
Last night's win over Dallas was a tale of two halves. The Wings got out to a quick 10-0 lead to start the game, and the Valks seemed slow and tired. Likely, because they've played four games in six days, and have to take on the Lynx in less than 48 hours. After two quarters, the Valks were down 41-32, and offense was hard to come by.
After half time, they came alive, led by the French connection Janelle Salaun and Carla Leite, who scored 19 points and 15 points, respectively. Bravo! We continued to see Kate Martin's green light from behind the arc. The fourth quarter was tight the whole way, with the Wings and Valks exchanging buckets. Veronica Burton had a game-clinching and-one drive to the basket with 22 seconds left, fouled by Paige Beuckers. PB5 did just about as much as one person could do for the Wings, going 27-4-4-6, but at the end fell just short.
Last night's win over the Dallas Wings secured the Valkyries' spot in the 2025 playoffs, and a spot in W history as the first ever expansion team in the WNBA to make it to the playoffs in their first season as a team. The atmosphere was, as we've come to expect in Ballhalla, nothing short of absolutely electric. Ballhalla couldn't be prouder!!
