A Lot of Great Stuff

On Sunday, after playing back-to-back games against the undefeated New York Liberty, the
Valkyries hosted the only other undefeated team in the WNBA.* The Minnesota Lynx, led by superstar Napheesa Collier, defeated the Valkyries 86-75, and she had a fantastic line of 24-11-4. But there was so much to like about this game! And while we never love to see an L, we love that there were a lot of great takeaways:
The offense (at least in the first half) was humming! The starting five had good half-court actions. The second squad played a faster pace and more in transition. Coach is using these early-season games to try things--not a bad idea! But this offense worked. And we'd love to see more of it!
Speaking of an offense working ... Kate Martin! 14 points in the first half! Huge 3-pointers! Getting the crowd on our feet! Give us more of that!
A tale of two halves. At halftime, the Valkyries led 52-51. This must be the most we've scored in a single half all season. But the good times did not last. From 3 minutes into the third quarter until about half way into the fourth quarter, the team scored three points. Oof!
Podziemski watch is live and well! Our favorite Valkyries fan was back. And rocking a Burton jersey this game! Brad usually wears a Thorton jersey, so it's great to see that he's got variety in his closet.
Another sold out crowd! When you support women's sports, fans follow!

Next up? The Las Vegas Aces. Go Valkyries!
*I get that scheduling is hard. But, that's crazy, right? Looking at you, Cathy!!
